The LifeStraw Go series replacement filter includes both a membrane microfilter and activated carbon filter, making it a 2-stage water filtration system. This replacement filter is only compatible with LifeStraw Go series water bottles purchased in 2023 or later, as it features a top lid that twists on to cover the mouthpiece.

The LifeStraw filter is designed to remove bacteria, parasites, and microplastics, while also reducing chlorine, bad odor, silt, sand, and cloudiness, resulting in improved water taste. The filtration system has been rigorously tested to meet the drinking water protocols established by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and NSF International/ANSI.

The membrane microfilter can protect against 99.999999% of bacteria (including E.coli and Salmonella), 99.999% of parasites (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium), and 99.999% of microplastics, as well as chlorine, organic chemical matter, silt, sand, and cloudiness, ultimately improving the taste of the water.

The membrane microfilter has a long-lasting capacity of up to 1,000 gallons (4,000 L) and will stop allowing water to flow through once it has reached the end of its lifetime. The activated carbon filter, on the other hand, lasts up to 26 gallons (100 L) of water with proper use and maintenance, and it is recommended to replace it when a change in the smell or taste of the water is noticed.
